Event Details

St Peter’s Church in Clifford’s Mesne warmly invites everyone to a Mothering Sunday Family Service on Sunday at 10.45am. This friendly service celebrates mothers, families, and the community, with flowers for mums and refreshments afterwards.

Mothering Sunday is a special day when many churches give thanks for mothers and those who care for us. At St Peter’s, the service is a relaxed family-friendly gathering, open to everyone in the village and surrounding area, whether you attend church regularly or are simply curious to join in.

The service will include a warm welcome, time for reflection, and a chance to celebrate the people who nurture and support us in everyday life.

Mothering Sunday has its roots in a centuries-old Christian tradition when people returned to their “mother church” during Lent. Over time, the day also became associated with celebrating mothers and family life.

Today it is celebrated as Mother’s Day, combining both traditions of family appreciation and church heritage.

Whether you come along with family, friends, or on your own, you will find a warm welcome at St Peter’s.

Supporting St Peter’s Church – The church is an historic part of our village community and relies on voluntary support for its upkeep. If you would like to contribute towards ongoing maintenance, particularly the current wall repairs and new servery, donations are warmly and gratefully received. Find out more here.
